What's Up in the Loft? banner.

Hey there, Loft crew!

Hugely Popular and…. less so

A bin of colorful canvas bags saying "Please Return to the Teen Loft" and with luggage tags saying "Squishy Fidget."By far, the squishy fidget – and it’s on track to take library borrowing by storm for the whole year. Already in January (and this is being written less than a dozen days into the month) we’re nearly at 80 NeeDoh fidget borrows.

We’re really glad you like them, even though sometimes it feels like our job is nothing more than handing them to you and taking them back. We get it though. They’re really nice.

Three colorful binders labeled TEEN LOFT ART BOOK.

One thing that used to be really popular? The Teen Loft Art Book. Y’all used to obsess over it – so much so that we’re on Volume 5 – but it’s been such a long time since anyone added anything new. We miss seeing your gorgeous coloring get added to the book. We don’t miss judging your three color challenges… but if that’s what it takes to get new submissions to the Art Book, then that’s what it takes.

If you’ve never see the TLABs, they are binders in the Loft showcasing coloring sheets of varying states of completion going all the way back to 2023. Stop in and page through one of the books – maybe you’ll recognize some art done by a friend!

Winter Reading Continues!

Winter Reading lets you turn that into virtual raffle tickets for cozy prizes. Keep track of days that you read online through February 1 to earn virtual raffle tickets, check out bonus activities for extra tickets, and don’t forget: each virtual ticket also gets you a physical sticker if you want one. Get past the January blues… ✨

January has big “why is it still winter” energy. It’s the longest month, the coldest vibes, and motivation is on vacation. Good news: the Loft has chill programs this month designed for maximum fun and minimal effort.

  • Monday, January 19 -the Loft will open at 11 a.m.
  • Sunday, January 25 – RPG & Board Game Club, 1-4:45 p.m.
  • Friday, January 30 – the Library will be closed all day for staff training.
  • Monday, February 2 – Heart Puppy Take & Create available
  • Friday, February 6 – T(w)een Detectives: Cold Case, 4-5 p.m.
The case has gone cold – and you’re going to help us solve it! A small town is devastated by a murder of a local teen, but they can’t figure out who did it. We’ll work together to analyze suspect profiles and digital evidence to uncover secrets and bring the killer to justice. Grades 6-12.
  • For the whole month of February, we’ll be spotlighting various romance books in a Blind Date with a Book display. Come in & pick up a wrapped book to take on a date – no peeking until you check it out!!

It’s not hard to register, just click the link for each program to sign up & we’ll see you there! Find our full calendar here.

The Loft is better with you in it. Come by soon—we’ll save you a spot. ✨
