Children's Services Activities



Our storytimes are in person! However, our monthly evening PJ storytimes will remain virtual. 

Please note that in-person storytimes will resume in early June as our librarians plan future storytimes and visit local schools with news about our Summer Reading Club.

May Monthly Activity: Color Hunt

Hunt for your favorite colors in May! Come to the Children's desk for your game sheet and explore the Children's Department to find objects in every color. Bring back the completed sheet for a fun prize (one prize per child in May). 






First Friday Fun Kits

Look for our craft program, First Friday Fun Kits, which be available beginning at 9 a.m. on the first Friday of the month. A limited supply of crafts will be available in the Children's Department to pick up to complete at home. One craft will for younger kids and one for older kids (small parts or more manual dexterity required). Additional supplies may be necessary. Limit one craft per child.

Pre-K Takeaway Packets

Interested in developing early literacy skills with your preschooler? Come in to the Children's Department and pick up a weekly packet to learn or practice their letters and numbers.

Miss a week or want to go at your own pace? Find printable letter and number activity sheets on Teachables, a website available to Park Ridge Public Library cardholders that offers educational enrichment resources for families with children from Pre-K to 6th grade. 




Book Bundles

Whether you're making an unexpected quick exit or are just popping in for a stack of books, check out one of our Grab & Go Bundles—a preselected group of books by age or reading level:
Toddlers and Preschoolers

• 2 & 3-year-olds 
• 4 & 5-year-olds 

Early Readers

• A & B for beginning reading levels  
• C & D for more advanced reading levels 




2023 Preschool and Enrichment Fair


Thank you to the parents, schools and daycares who joined us at our 2023 Preschool & Enrichment Fair! If you weren't able to attend, you can pick up a booklet in the Children's Department with information about the participating preschools, daycares and enrichment programs.
