Our summer reading club, Libraries: Your Passport to the World, has started! Sign up for the reading club on Beanstack, where you can log your daily reading. Earn a virtual ticket for every 10 days of reading and enter drawings for chances to win fantastic prizes. Stop by the Children's Department to pick up a paper log or print the log from home.

Need help with Beanstack? Here's a guide to help you sign up for an account or register for the Summer Reading Club.

Around the World with Eugene

Our summer reading club mascot Eugene is traveling around the world! But you can see Eugene on his travels in 16 Uptown store windows from Friday, June 18 to Sunday, August 15. Stop in the Children's Department beginning June 18 to pick up your passport and travel with Eugene.

Here are 16 clues to help you find Eugene:

  1. Eugene can borrow a whole LIBRARY full of books here, just by using his card.  His favorites are about unicorns, of course.
  2. Eugene is so thoughtful to buy a HALLMARK card for his friend at this store.
  3. One of Eugene’s favorite foods is SUSHI, and he can get it here in a hurry.
  4. Eugene likes to go to new stores, and this one is SOOO CUTE.
  5. This PIZZA is so good, and it is so close to the Library on Prospect, Eugene goes here all the time.
  6. Eugene is often in the mood for ICE CREAM and goes here.  They sell milk too.  Moooo…
  7. PANCAKES are Eugene’s favorite.  Who doesn’t like pancakes at this ORIGINAL place?
  8. Eugene’s old friend JOE goes grocery shopping with Eugene here.
  9. NATURALLY, Eugene has a PET dog, whose name is “KRIS”.
  10. Eugene has a taste for some good BARBECUE, so he thinks he will go to the CITY of Park Ridge.
  11. JILL is Eugene’s hair stylist, and he and his friend JACK go here to get their hair cut.
  12. Eugene is DESIGNING a new kitchen for his house on VINE STREET.
  13. Sweet treats are the best here.  Eugene and his friend DOLCE go here for pastries all the time.
  14. It’s that time again for Eugene to get a checkup at the DENTIST.  He’s going to the one in UPTOWN.
  15. Eugene loves to ROCK and wants to go to SCHOOL to learn to play an instrument.
  16. Since Eugene is so good at leaping in the air, he might try out some MARTIAL ARTS here.

Find all 16 and bring in your passport to enter a drawing for a chance to win one of two prizes: a Melissa & Doug Ice Cream Set or a $25 Gift Card to Triple Scoop’d Ice Cream.
