To help our patrons who have sensory sensitivities, we offer the following support and resources.
Sensory-Friendly Hour
First Sunday of Every Month
11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
We welcome our sensory-sensitive and neurodivergent friends to come experience the library in an adapted and welcoming environment during this early open time, the first Sunday of every month, 11 a.m. to noon.
No need to register, just drop in.
Calming Space
Sometimes the Children’s Department (and the world) can be overwhelming. The Calming Space is a cozy place to take a breath, regroup, and more. Please ask at the Children’s Desk to use the Calming Space.
What is it for?
- Support an over-stimulated or under-stimulated child.
- Calm an upset child.
- Nurse a baby in a comfortable space
BONUS: If you have other little ones, they can stay with you and be entertained while you tend to the baby. - Change a diaper.
- Take a breath and regroup.
