The Park Ridge Library will present ‘The Life of Bessie Coleman’ on Thursday, February 20, at 7 p.m. Gigi Coleman, Bessie’s great-niece, will be on-site at the Library to celebrate the legacy of the world’s first African American female pilot.
Coleman was an American aviator and a star of early aviation exhibitions and air shows.
One of 13 children, Coleman grew up in Waxahatchie, Texas, and attended college in Langston, Oklahoma, briefly, before moving to Chicago, where she worked as a manicurist and restaurant manager and became interested in the then new profession of aviation. Learn more about this aviation pioneer in person at the Library or virtually over Zoom. Register on our online calendar.
The program will be held in the Library’s First Floor Meeting Room.
