Library cards are issued to all Park Ridge residents free of charge.

A library card is required to check out materials and to access our online databases from home or work. To obtain a library card please bring proof of residency with your current home address by providing a photo ID. If your photo ID does not have your current address please bring your photo ID with another form of proof from the list below to the Patron Services Desk in the lobby. It takes just a few minutes to obtain a card and is valid for three years.

Acceptable forms of ID may include:
  • Driver’s License
  • Non-driving state identification card
  • Concealed carry license
  • Corporate or school issued ID card
  • Passport
  • Armed forces identification
  • Government issued ID with photo (example: prison issued)
  • Mortgage
  • Rental lease
  • Property deed
  • Voter registration card
  • Home or auto insurance policy
  • Credit/debit card with photo
  • Official mail postmarked within 60 days (no junk mail)
  • Current utility bill, or other service provider billing statement within 60 days
  • Bank statement within 60 days
  • Pay stub within 60 days

Nonresident Library Cards

The Park Ridge Public Library is a member of the Reaching Across Illinois Library System and accepts cards from over 400 public libraries in the library system. If you do not live within the system or you are in an area that does not have library service you may be eligible to purchase a nonresident card. As of July 1, 2023, nonresident library cards are $284 per year and provide access to library materials, programs, and online databases.

Movie Marathon Sets (PRPL cardholders only, Limit of 2 per person) 2 weeks
TV Series DVDs 2 weeks
Magazines 3 weeks
Playaways (Limit of 5 per person) 3 weeks
Video Games (Limit of 5 per person) 2 weeks
