Friends of the Library hosts Spring Book Sale, May 3-5

The Friends of the Park Ridge Library will host their annual Spring Book Sale in the First Floor Meeting Room on Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A special Members Only Preview Night is open to members of the Friends of the Library on Friday, May 3, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Friends of the Library memberships can be purchased at the door on Preview Night starting at $25 for an individual membership; cash or check is accepted. Join the Friends now or at the Preview Night to take advantage of this opportunity for early access.

A Half-Price Sale will be held Sunday, May 5, from Noon to 2 p.m.

The sale features recent fiction and nonfiction bestsellers, children’s picture and chapter books, travel guides, history, cookbooks, and all types of craft books. In addition, there are feature and classic movies and TV shows on DVD as well as CDs and vinyl ranging from jazz and classical to country and rock.

“There is good news for those who were not able to attend our Winter Pop-up Sale of games and puzzles,” reported Deb Kuhlman, co-president of the Friends. “We have a very large selection of all sizes of jigsaw puzzles as well as board, dice, card and party games.”

Among the programs and projects that the Friends have supported in the past year are the Library drive-thru book drop, furnishings like those used in Library Storytimes, and prizes for the Library’s Summer and Winter Reading programs.

The Friends of the Library is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization, dedicated to the support of the Library.  Through an annual membership drive and several large book sales, the Friends raise money for special programs, collections and services that enhance the Library and benefit the community.  Each year the Friends contribute more than $20,000 to the Library.
