National Library Week, April 20-24, is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries, librarians, and other library staff, and to promote library use and support.
This year’s theme, “Find Your Joy at the Library,” allows us to highlight all the things that patrons enjoy doing, reading, listening to and watching when they use the Library.
There are many ways you can celebrate National Library Week with us:
- Pick up a new Library yard sign (while supplies last) and stand from our lobby to show your library joy year round. If you can’t make it into the Library to pick up a yard sign, call our Patron Services department at 847-825-3123, option 6, or send us an email, and we’ll leave it at your front door via our Doorstep Delivery service.
- Keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram all week for reels starring our very own staff and their take on reading and libraries, information about how you can support libraries, and more!
- Stop by the Library and bring someone with you! Starting Monday, we have some fun giveaways in addition to the yard sign, while supplies last. Our program schedule is as packed as ever with events, classes, concerts and experiences for all ages.
- Explore something new: a book, a program, a class, or a conversation. From Storytimes to craft classes, author talks to job support, the Library is a place where curiosity and connection come to life.
- Help a friend or family member sign up for a library card. It’s one small step that opens up endless possibilities.
