Celebrate end of Summer Reading program with Sendoff, this Saturday

The Park Ridge Library will host the Summer Reading Sendoff event this Saturday, August 10, to mark the end of our Summer Reading program. Enjoy live music from Grammy-nominated children’s performer Justin Roberts and the modern take on classic hits from Chicago-area favorite The Throwbacks. We’ll also have ice cream treats from Triple Scoop’d on the library lawn, and balloon and bubble artistry by RC Juggle.

The first 200 Summer Reading participants who check in at the event and show they participated in Summer Reading will receive a ticket for a free Triple Scoop’d ice cream. Every participant will also get a ticket for a chance to win a gift card to one of seven local restaurants, with the option to place their ticket into their favorite restaurant’s corresponding bucket. Prizes are donated by the Friends of the Park Ridge Library.

Ice cream will also be available for purchase. Registration is not required to attend the Sendoff.

About Justin Roberts

Justin Roberts is truly one of the “all-stars” of the indie family music scene. For nearly 20 years, Roberts has been creating the soundtrack to families’ lives, helping kids navigate the joys and sorrows of growing up while allowing parents to remember their own childhoods. Along with his band, The Not Ready for Naptime Players, Justin has traveled the globe, from Hong Kong to New York, and Miami to Seattle. Roberts performs at 10 a.m. on the Library Lawn.

About The Throwbacks

The Throwbacks might seem like an odd cover band. Three young guys decided to take classic oldies songs from the 1950’s and 1960’s, and infuse energy and modern song writing into them, to play for audiences who have loved them for decades. Why do this? Having played together for many years, and having grown up listening to the Chicago oldies radio station, these tuxedo-wearing gentlemen decided to combine their style of high energy rock with music from a bygone era, to create something unique to the Chicagoland cover scene. The Throwbacks perform at 11 a.m. on the Library Lawn.
