Extra! Extra! Library patrons can now access the Chicago Tribune online both in the Library and from anywhere on a computer or personal device. The Tribune is available in several forms through the Databases page on our website.
- Chicago Tribune Digital Edition database allows the user to view onscreen the newspaper layout as it would appear in the print edition.
- Chicago Tribune Online Edition database offers full access to ChicagoTribune.com, the newspaper’s official website.
- Chicago Tribune Articles contains full-text articles, from 1985 to the present.
- Historical Chicago Tribune database offers full-text articles from the newspaper dating from 1849 to 2000.
The Chicago Tribune Digital Edition and Online Edition are both accessible without a Park Ridge Library card when you choose 24 hours of access on the login screen, essentially like logging in as a guest. Remote access does require a PRPL library card, but neither type of access requires a Chicago Tribune login.
To access the Tribune from home – or on the go – sign into the site as you would when you log into our online catalog.
Remotely or within the library, if you log in, you’ll have access to the Tribune for 72 hours. After that, you can click on the link for access again as needed.
