Battle of the Books, a Park Ridge Library tradition of more than 40 years, brings teams of fourth and fifth graders from Park Ridge schools to compete against each other in a quiz show format to test their knowledge of books.
The teams are put together and coached by teachers and sometimes parent volunteers from each school. Questions for the contest cover 40 books from the Battle of the Books list, which is compiled by a Park Ridge Library librarian in early summer each year. Points are earned in weekly competitions over five weeks, with each school competing once per week.
Battle of the Books kicked off this week with seven grade schools competing: Carpenter, Field, Franklin, Washington, and Roosevelt as well as Mary, Seat of Wisdom and St. Paul of the Cross. See the latest scores on the Kids page of the website.
