The Friends of the Park Ridge Library will host their annual Fall Book Sale in the First Floor Meeting Room at the Library on Saturday, October 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A special Members Only Preview Night is open to members of the Friends of the Library on Friday, October 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Half-Price Sale will be held Sunday, October 19, from noon to 2 p.m.
Purchase Friends of the Library memberships online at parkridgelibrary.org/get-involved/ or at the door on Preview Night. Memberships start at $25 for an individual membership; cash or check is accepted. Members who join before, or at, the Preview Night or sale will receive a voucher for a $5 discount at the sale.
The sale features recent fiction and nonfiction bestsellers, children’s picture and chapter books, travel guides, high school required reading paperbacks, cookbooks, as well as puzzles and board games. In addition, there are feature and classic movies and TV shows on DVD as well as CDs and vinyl ranging from jazz and classical to country and rock. Paperback books start at 50 cents, current novels are $2, and vinyl records can be found for $1.
“Every book sold at the Friends of the Library Book Sale helps write the next chapter for our library—supporting programs, resources, and a vibrant community space for all,” said Friends of the Park Ridge Library Co-President Ron Stempkowski.
Programs and projects that the Friends have supported recently include the Summer Reading Sendoff event, as well as prizes for both the Summer and Winter Reading programs. The Friends also sponsor a concert series, most recently a performance of contemporary American and Brazilian jazz by the Jazz Arts Duo.
The Friends of the Library is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization, dedicated to the support of the Library. Through an annual membership drive and several large book sales, the Friends raise money for special programs, collections and services that enhance the Library and benefit the community.
