The Friends of the Park Ridge Library will hold its annual Spring Book Sale in the first floor meeting room at the Library on Saturday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A special Members Only Preview Night is open to members of the Friends of the Library on Friday, May 1, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Friends of the Library memberships can be purchased at the door on Preview Night starting at $25 for an individual membership; cash or check is accepted. Memberships can also be purchased online here.
A Half-Price Sale will be held Sunday, May 3, from noon to 2 p.m.
The sale features recent fiction and nonfiction bestsellers, children’s picture and chapter books, travel guides, history, cookbooks, and all types of craft books. In addition, there are feature and classic movies and TV shows on DVD as well as CDs and vinyl ranging from jazz and classical to country and rock.
“Books have a way of finding the right hands at the right time,” said Ron Stempkowski, co-presidnet of the Friends of the Park Ridge Library. “That’s what I love about this sale—every donated book carries someone’s story, and now it gets to start a new one. Come find yours.”
Among the programs and projects the Friends have supported in the past year are the seasonal concert series that consistently draws a capacity crowd, the Summer Reading Sendoff event, and prizes for the Library’s Summer and Winter Reading programs.
The Friends of the Library is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization, dedicated to the support of the Library. Through an annual membership drive and several large book sales, the Friends raise money for special programs, collections and services that enhance the Library and benefit the community. Each year the Friends contribute more than $20,000 to the Library. For more information, visit parkridgelibrary.org/friends-of-the-library/.
