Nearly 2,500 patrons participate in Summer Reading

Summer Reading ended Saturday, August 10, with our Summer Reading Sendoff event. Approximately 400 patrons from babies to seniors joined us on the lawn for music, balloon and bubble artistry, and ice cream. Justin Roberts performed and got kids out of the seats and dancing, and The Throwbacks kept them there with fun, modern spins on classic rock and pop songs.

More than 2,400 kids and teens and nearly 400 adults participated in Summer Reading this year. Kids and teens log the days they read rather than tracking each book. This year, teen Summer Reading participants logged a collective total of 9,895 days read, while the kids (ages birth through fifth grade) logged 38,297 days!

Adults: If you haven’t had a chance to log your books read from this summer, do so this week so you can qualify for the Summer Reading tote bag!
