Food For Fines Coming May 12 – May 25

Most patrons know about Food For Fines, the Library’s annual holiday-season initiative that allows them to clear late fees off their cards while helping stock local food pantries. Now, for two weeks only in May, cardholders will have a special chance to wipe the slate clean – just in time for the Summer Reading Clubs.
Library patrons can bring in non-perishable food items to “pay off” late fees for overdue materials. Contributions benefit needy residents in Maine Township. For each food item that you bring in, $1.00 worth of late fees will be cleared off your card.
Please note that food items may not be used to cover lost or damaged materials, or to pay late fees on materials from other libraries.We also cannot accept donations to pay off referral fees if your account has been sent to collections.
To clear all the accounts in the household, please bring in all the library cards at the same time. We also request that you check the expiration date of donated food. Expired food items cannot be donated to the food pantries and will have to be discarded.
