Summer Reading Club, the Library's annual reading challenge with customized contests for kids, teens, and adults, begins Saturday, June 10. Register for Summer Reading Club online at parkridgelib.beanstack.org.
“Summer Reading Club is a fun motivator to keep us all reading with challenges for all ages and chances to win fun prizes,” said Library Director Joanna Bertucci. “We’re excited that we can incorporate music into this year’s theme, and we have some great shows lined up for kids and adults all summer.”
Participants can start tracking the time and books they’ve read for Summer Reading Club on Saturday, June 10. The challenge ends Sunday, August 20.
Adults who read one book in each of four categories by August 20 will earn tickets for our prize drawing to win a gift card to a local business, or tickets to a concert at Ravinia. More tickets can be earned by completing bonus challenges like completing a request for a Book or DVD Match, reading a book a friend recommends, and others.
Participants from sixth grade through high school can earn a virtual ticket for every 10 days they read for 20 minutes or more. Complete 30 days of reading to earn a prize book. Required summer reading for school counts, too. Each entry is a chance to win prizes like gift cards to iFly, Broadway in Chicago, Starbucks, and more. They can also use those books read toward the 100 Books Before Graduation challenge.
Children ages birth through fifth grade can log every day they read for at least 20 minutes. Every 10 days of reading earns a reader a sticker and a ticket for a chance to win a bonus prize. The prize drawing includes gift cards, Apple AirPods, Lego sets, or opportunities to be Mayor for the Day or take a ride in a police squad car. They can keep reading for more tickets and more chances to win. Complete 30 days of reading to earn a prize book!
Prizes for Summer Reading Club are donated by the Friends of the Park Ridge Library.
