The Park Ridge Public Library has suspended public access to the Library building, including its 'Grab & Go' browsing option, in response to recent public health recommendations. Patrons can still borrow materials using the contact-free pickup service by appointment. Public computer appointments are suspended until further notice.
Patrons who have received a notification that they have materials on hold should make an appointment for contact-free pickup at parkridgelibrary.org/pickup/ or by calling 847-825-3123, ext. 6. Patrons wanting to place books on hold, request a Book or DVD Match, or needing to reach a librarian via phone, chat, or email for assistance can do so at parkridgelibrary.org. For assistance placing books on hold, please call 847-720-3280 for Adults and 847-825-4527 for Children’s Services.
Virtual programs and services conducted online will continue as scheduled.
Drive-thru and exterior building dropboxes will remain open.
These safety measures are being taken out of an abundance of caution, not due to any known exposure to COVID-19.
“We feel this is the best way we can support health officials’ efforts as COVID positivity rates continue to climb,” said Library Director Heidi Smith. “We are happy to be able to offer our contact-free pickup service so that patrons can still access our collection, and will continue to offer engaging virtual programs as we have since April.”
Smith added that ongoing news of the rolling COVID-19 positivity rate, recommendations from the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Suburban Cook County stay-at-home advisory, and the State of Illinois phased plan for retail businesses were the basis for the Park Ridge Public Library officials’ decision to step up the library’s response.
Park Ridge is one of several area libraries, institutions, and government entities choosing to suspend services or limit public access to their building as COVID-19 cases have increased.
