The Park Ridge Library is pleased to announce that over 3,000 popular magazines are now available to download and read on phones or other devices that allow apps, 24/7. Users with a library card can read digital magazines on Libby, the award-winning reading app from OverDrive, or by visiting the ebooks and downloadables page of our website. Top titles include The Economist, OK, The New Yorker, and many other popular magazines, all supplied by ZINIO (previously available through the RBdigital app).

“We’re really excited about this transition,” said Laura Scott, Adult Services manager. “So many of our cardholders already use the Libby app to access ebooks and audiobooks and find it to be really user-friendly. As always with our downloable offerings, the great selection can mean a huge cost savings for our cardholders, as well.”

Other digital magazines available include Newsweek, Good Housekeeping, Bon Appetit, Better Homes and Gardens, Architectural Digest, Dwell, Cosmopolitan, Rolling Stone, and Wired.

Digital magazines through Libby have no wait lists or holds, do not count towards checkout limits and provide readers the option to renew their selections. Park Ridge Library patrons can also download magazines to Libby for offline use. Readers can browse lists of magazines within the app and search by format to find available titles.

Named one of Popular Mechanics’ 20 Best Apps of the Decade, Libby seamlessly connects first-time users and experienced readers with the Park Ridge Library’s digital collection. Readers may browse and instantly borrow titles, then start reading or listening for free with a valid library card. This service is compatible with all major computers and devices, iPhone®, iPad®, Android™ phones and tablets and Chromebook™. All titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period and there are no late fees.
