Library building to remain closed. Virtual services and contact-free pickup are open!

Per the shelter-in-place order issued by the Governor of the State of Illinois, the Park Ridge Library will remain closed.

Please continue to refer to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Illinois Department of Public Health, and the City of Park Ridge for the latest information about COVID-19. Find links to all of these sites at https://www.parkridge.info/.

Our staff is working remotely and is still here to answer your questions and provide recommendations for books and other media. We are here for you. Please refer to our Let’s Stay Connected page on our website for details about how you can reach a librarian in each of our departments.

Obtaining a Library Card
Get free access to ebooks, audiobooks, digital magazines, and newspapers from around the world, online databases, and live tutoring help with your ecard! Apply for a library card through our online form. One of our team members will email you your library card number and pin so you can access online resources and your account. Remember to pick up your card and show proof of residency when the library reopens.

For questions regarding your account including card expiration, resetting your pin on your account, renewals or overdue materials please email our Patron Services team at patronservices@prpl.org or call 847-825-3123, ext. 6.

Borrowed Materials
During this time, the Library will not be accepting physical materials for return. The Library’s exterior drop boxes will be closed until further notice. Any overdue fines will be waived through July 1. Patrons are encouraged to visit the Library’s website at www.parkridgelibrary.org for the latest updates on the closing and to access downloadable materials and databases.

We are awaiting information about the risk involved in receiving returned materials, staff handling them, and possibly recirculating them to members of our community. We haven’t received guidance yet, so in the meantime, please keep what you have checked out, and rest assured that there will be no overdue fines applied.

Blocked Accounts
If your account is blocked, email patronservices@prpl.org and we will work with you to unblock it.

Holds
Your holds will stay on our shelf until we reopen to the public. After that, they’ll be available for seven days. You can still place holds on items, but those holds will remain in a queue until buildings reopen.

Before We Reopen
We currently have a cleaning service completing deep cleaning with additional disinfecting services. Any additional guidance provided by the CDC or IDPH will be followed prior to reopening to staff or the public.
