Library offers Spring Break plans for families at home or away

March 19, 2021 10:29 AM

Whether Spring Break means a condo on the beach in Destin or a week of fun outings and activities right here in town, the Library has plenty to offer that can be done from anywhere. The programs are ideal particularly if there's a rainy afternoon in the forecast.

On Monday, March 22, at 11 a.m. or Thursday, March 25, at 2 p.m., patrons of all ages can learn to draw with professional cartoonist Mark Anderson in his Andertoons Cartooning Classes. Monday’s class offers lessons in drawing superheroes and villains, and Thursday’s will be about dinosaurs and robots – do they fight or have a picnic? The cartoonist gets to decide!

Get in a good stretch and learn mindfulness on Monday afternoon at 3:45 with Carlie from Sun & Moon Yoga Studio and her Kids Yoga Break class.

Don’t miss the debut of First Chapter Fridays on March 26 from 4 to 4:30 p.m. A member of our Children’s Services team reads the first chapter to get you hooked on a new book, and the rest is up to you! This program is for all ages; only one registration per household is needed.

If you’re staying in town for Spring Break, you’ll be among the first to see our new Spring StoryWalk® around the library, on display beginning March 22. Read the book The Hidden Rainbow by Christie Matheson in the library's windows. Continue the fun with activities available through the QR code in the last window.
