The Library is getting patrons ready for its Winter Reading Club with a hot cocoa-themed giveaway to take place Friday, November 26, ahead of Park Ridge Winterfest. While supplies last, adults who stop in the Library after 5 p.m. will receive a hot cocoa mug and spoon. Kids and teens can pick up a hot cocoa kit with marshmallows, cocoa mix and a candy cane, and take home a Winter Reading sticker. Winterfest is set to begin at 6 p.m. that evening.

The Library’s Winter Reading Club will run from December 20 to February 13. Beginning November 26, patrons will be able to register for the Reading Club on the Library website, parkridgelibrary.org, at the service desks in the Reader Services, Teen Loft or Children’s departments, or by calling 847-825-3123.

“Nothing goes better with winter reading than a cup of hot cocoa,” said Library Director Joanna Bertucci. “Our Winter Reading Clubs for kids, teens and adults begin December 20, but you can register anytime throughout the month of December and get your to-be-read stack ready for the season. The club begins when school breaks start, so it’s also a great time to get kids in the habit of reading for fun.”

In addition to Winter Reading Club, the Library will be hosting virtual storytimes, book discussions, and craft and cooking programs for kids and teens. Adults can attend programs and lectures to help them refocus and regroup for the new year, discuss a new novel or nonfiction book, spend time on their favorite craft project in the Studio, or sharpen their job search skills. The full schedule of programs will be listed in the newsletter delivered to all Park Ridge homes by November 30, or online at parkridgelibrary.libcal.com/calendar.
