The Friends of the Park Ridge Library will host its annual Spring Book Sale in the first floor meeting room at the Library on Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A special Preview Night is open to members of the Friends of the Library on Friday, May 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. Friends of the Library memberships can be purchased online at the door on Preview Night starting at $25 for an individual membership; cash or check is accepted.

A Half-Price Sale will be held Sunday, May 8, from Noon to 2 p.m.

The sale features recent fiction and nonfiction bestsellers, travel guides, history, cookbooks, and all types of craft books. In addition, there are feature and classic movies and TV shows on DVD as well as CDs ranging from jazz and classical to country and hip-hop.

"We especially encourage families to attend the sale because we have a huge selection of children's books that are perfect for toddlers through teenagers,” said Deb Kuhlman, Friends of the Library co-president and manager of the Book Sale. "In addition, we have a large variety of puzzles and games for kids and adults."

Among the programs and projects that the Friends have supported in the past year are the new Library drive-thru book drop, licenses for feature and classic films shown at the library, and prizes for library reading clubs.

The Friends of the Library is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization, dedicated to the support of the Library. Through an annual membership drive and several large book sales, the Friends raise money for special programs, collections and services that enhance the Library and benefit the community. Each year the Friends contribute more than $20,000 to the Library. For more information, visit parkridgelibrary.org/friends-of-the-library/.
