Catalog Downtime January 11-15

 

JANUARY 11 to JANUARY 15

From Friday afternoon, January 11 until Tuesday, January 15, the Library catalog will be down as we prepare to have the Morton Grove Public Library join our shared catalog. During this time period:

 

  • Bring your library card to the library! Library staff may not be able to look up your account to check out materials to you.

  • Call the Library to confirm that an item is on the shelf. Results in the online catalog may not be up to date. 

  • Wait to pay! You will not be able to pay fines or modify your accounts during the downtime.

  • Place your holds before the weekend! Library staff will not be able to place holds from January 12 - January 14, and you will not be able to place holds through the library catalog yourself.

 

 

STARTING JANUARY 15

The shared catalog grows a little larger with the addition of over 100,000 Morton Grove items to the catalog!

 

  • Use your library card at the Morton Grove Public Library! Existing CCS member library patrons may check out materials from Morton Grove Public Library without needing to register their library card.

  • Morton Grove cardholders can check out at CCS member libraries! Morton Grove Public Library patrons can check out at CCS member libraries without needing to register their card.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the online catalog look different during the downtime?

During the January 11 - January 15 downtime, library customers will be redirected to an alternate online catalog. Customers will be able to search for titles and view their account, but will not able to place holds, renew items, pay fines, or modify their account information.

Will my password change?

For existing Park Ridge Public Library patrons, your catalog password will not change!

Why do items I returned between Jan. 11th and Jan.15th still show as being checked out to me?

During the downtime period from January 11 - January 15, libraries are unable to check items in. Any items returned between January 11 - January 15 will be checked in beginning January 15, once the downtime period is over.

What will happen to my reciprocal library account at Morton Grove Public Library?

If you previously registered your card at Morton Grove, your reciprocal library account will be merged with your home library account. Checkouts, holds, and fines/bills will be merged into one account. You will no longer need to manage two separate library accounts!

Can I still call the automated renewal line to renew my items?

The automated renewal line will be disabled Friday afternoon, January 11 through Monday, January 14. You will be unable to renew items while we are in offline.
