The Board of Trustees of the Park Ridge Public Library is planning for the lending of physical materials via contact-free pickup as the State of Illinois’ Restore Illinois plan moves toward Phase 3. The staff at the Park Ridge Public Library is busy preparing collections, technology, and sorting previously returned books and other materials in the facility in order to begin phasing in contact-free pickup services for the public within 3 days of the Governor’s announcement that the state has entered Phase 3. Based on recent information from Governor Pritzker, the staff is gearing up for a June 1 start date. If needed, the Board will discuss current conditions and evaluate next steps in early June. What does this mean for getting new books and materials?
Our staff is working on a system for contact-free pickup of materials by appointment only, but you can start requesting books now!
To get started, go to our online catalog and, using your library card, find the books or other physical materials you'd like to borrow when we begin pickup and place a hold on them.
If you have holds already waiting but you aren't ready to pick them up, you can suspend those holds for a later date using the instructions below. (Please note, due to availability, not all materials will be available because you add a hold.)
We will have more information about the appointment and pick-up process in the days to come, including official confirmation that we will be able to start on June 1.
Please note, we are not accepting returns until further notice. Please do not bring any library materials with you when you pick up your holds.
Continue to follow us on social media, checking on our website and watching your inbox for the latest updates. If you have a specific question or need assistance with your holds, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or reach a staff member live using the methods listed here. Thank you!
