The Library uses adult and young adult volunteers to assist regular staff in supplemental areas wherever
possible, but not to provide basic services. Volunteers help with a wide variety of tasks that may include:
- delivering Library materials to homebound patrons (adult volunteers only)
- reshelving books
- searching for missing items
- checking in Library materials
- performing clerical tasks, such as folding, collating, and stuffing envelopes
- labeling books
- making sure Library materials are shelved in proper order
- typing and word processing
- assisting with Adult Basic Internet classes
- Adopt-a-Shelf
- phoning patrons to pick up reserves
Young Adult Volunteer Opportunities
The Library has volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Most of our Jr. High and High School volunteers can work at the Library while simultaneously fulfilling their community service hours for church/school. Volunteers will be assigned to an area of the library needing the most help and assistance. Jr. Volunteer positions are available Monday through Friday after school hours. All Jr. Volunteers must be in grade 6 or above.
During the summertime, the Library offers a special Jr. Volunteer program with limited spaces. Sign-up for this program is during the Library's annual Summer Kick Off.
For more information about volunteering contact Pat Ciprian, the Volunteer Coordinator at
720-3285, or stop by the Reader Services desk to pick up an application.
