BOARD BOOK HOUSE
If you walk straight through the Childrens room, towards
the windows, you will find the Board Book House. Board Books
are sturdy cardboard books designed for even the youngest
child to handle. The catalog will indicate "Board Book".
PICTURE BOOKS
Right in front of you as you walk into the Children's Services
Department, you will see our Picture Book collection. The Picture Book
section has books with lots of pictures and are often read aloud to children.
These are great for preschoolers and even some older children. The catalog
will indicate "P" for Picture Book (jA/P for example).
EASY BOOKS
Turn right after entering the Children's Services department
and walk past the desk and the computers. On the right you will find the Easy
book section. Books in the Easy section have a controlled vocabulary for
beginning readers to students reading at a 3rd grade level. The catalog will
indicate "E" for Easy (jA/E for fiction and
599/jA/E for non-fiction for example).
OLDER FICTION AND OLDER NON-FICTION
Turn right after you enter the Children's Services department
and walk to the farthest bank of book shelves. Books at a higher
reading level are in this section. In the catalog, these books appear
as jA for fiction or 599/jA for non-fiction for example.
