Bundle up and take a walk while enjoying a cozy winter story during your visit to Uptown, Park Ridge. You can do it, Sam, by Amy Hest and illustrated by Anita Jeram, is about a young bear who helps his mother make some treats and deliver them to neighbors and friends. He is nervous about going to his neighbors' doors, but mother bear offers assurances to help him.
This is the Library’s fifth StoryWalk® and the second on the lawn and is a perfect story for the holiday season because it speaks to gift giving, being a good neighbor and self-confidence. To add to the fun, Dolcetti Patisserie & Café is offering a free mini hot chocolate to children who have completed the StoryWalk®. All they have to do is to come to the Library to let us know that they took the StoryWalk® and collect a coupon for each child in the group.
The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition (VBPC) and the Kellogg Hubbard Library in an effort to encourage physical activity, early literacy, and family time together in nature.
