Placing Reserves

If you've found what you're looking for, but it's checked out of the Library, you can request that the item be placed on "hold" for you when it is returned.

  • Follow all instructions carefully. Mistakes may result in the system "losing your hold".
  • If you plan to place multiple reserves, in the top, right-hand corner of the screen enter your library card number (no spaces) in the Card No. box, and your password in the Password field below. Then follow the instructions below to search for items. This way you will not need to re-enter your library card number and password for each individual item.
  • You will be notified by phone or e-mail when your item comes in. You have five days to pick up your item before it is returned to the shelf.
  • This is a service provided for your convenience. We reserve the right to limit its use.
  • Materials may also be obtained through InterLibrary Loan.
  • We would be happy to assist you or place the hold for you. Just ask at one of our information desks or call (847) 825-3123

Holds/Reserves may not be placed on the following items:

  • Heritage Room or other noncirculating items
  • "Most Wanted List" books
  • New items owned by other (CCS) libraries may not be available
  • Reference books

Not every item can be reserved:

You may place holds on items the Park Ridge Public Library owns or any other library in our online catalog. Some libraries do not allow holds on their audiovisual items. If you have any questions, ask at an information desk or call (847) 825-3123.This is a service for library card holders without fines or overdues. If there's any question about your status, please ask at the Circulation Desk.
