Foreign Language

The library’s adult foreign language books are located on the second floor of the library in the Reference Department. Polish materials make up the largest portion of the collection with over 700 books! Spanish is the next largest collection with over 150 books. The rest of the foreign language collection is made up of small collections of French, German, and Italian books.  

 

The foreign language magazines that the library subscribes to include four Polish language magazines:  Cosmopolitan, Forum,  Uroda and Wprost. The library also subscribes to Paris Match (French), and People en Espanol (Spanish).  These publications can be found by the foreign language books in the Reference Department. Older editions may be checked out for two weeks while the current issues are non-circulating.  The library also subscribes to the Polish newspaper Dziennik Zwiazkowy and this can be found with the rest of the newspapers on the second floor.
 

Mango Languages is a premium resources that provides language instruction anywhere a computer has internet access. All that is needed is a Park Ridge library card and the desire to learn.

 

Mango Languages provides visual and audio slideshow lessons to teach grammar, vocabulary, and important phrases. Mango also provices ESL lessons for native speakers of several foreign languages.
