Reading Patch Club
Children can join the Reading Patch Club by reading or having someone read books to them. Stop in to the Children’s Service Department to sign-up. We have patches for Kindergarteners, 1st graders, and 2nd – 6th graders. The Reading Patch Club runs from Labor Day to Memorial Day.
Kindergarteners
While in Kindergarten, children can earn two special patches, the Wagon patch and the Warm Up to Books patch by having someone read (or reading themselves) 50 books.

First Graders
First graders have a chance to earn an "I Can Read!" patch by reading 20 books on their own. They can then move on to "I Can Read More" and finally to "I Can Be A Star Reader." To earn each additional patch, they will need to read 20 more books.

2nd - 6th Graders
Students can read books from different subjects. After choosing from 19 different patches, students read eight books in that category, working on one patch at a time. Students may earn up to one of each patch every school year.

Sponsored in part by the Friends of the Library.
