September - April Junior Volunteer Opportunities
Park Ridge Public Library offers volunteer opportunities for Middle School /Jr. High students needing to fulfill service hour requirements for school or Confirmation, September through April.
One-Time Opportunities
Sign up for one-time events (2 hours) by visiting the Reader Services desk on the 2nd floor of the Library. These opportunities include Children's and Young Adult program assistance, Circulation help, and other short-term projects.
Longer-Term Opportunities
Students interested in a longer-term opportunity (4-8 hours total) can choose to volunteer in one of the following Library Departments and should fill out an application in person at the Reader Services Desk on the 2nd floor.
Mondays, 3:30—5:30 Reference Department: volunteers may be asked to clean books or materials being used in displays, assist with various clerical tasks and/or dust and straighten shelves. Please report to the Service Desk in the Reference Department at 3:30 each week.
Wednesdays, 3:30—5:30 Reader Services Department: volunteers may be asked to dust and straighten shelves, shelf read a portion of the collection, assist with clerical tasks (folding, stamping, preparing items for mailing) and clean books or materials for displays. Please report to the Service Desk in the Reader Services Department at 3:30 each week (the service desk nearest the Adult Music CD collection).
Thursdays, 3:30—5:30, Children's Department: volunteers may be asked to clean library materials and toys, dust and straighten shelves, assist with clerical tasks (folding, stamping, preparing items for mailing), and assist with program preparation. Please report to the Service Desk in the Children’s Department at 3:30 each week.
