Administration Department
Library Director, Janet Van De Carr, oversees the Administration Department and the overall Library operation.
Some of the Administration Department responsibilities include: preparing Board documents, processing payment of library invoices, processing job applications, scheduling meeting rooms, coordinating all publicity efforts and coordinating the Park Ridge Community Network Home Page project, managed by Business Office Manager/ Park Ridge Community Network Manager, Angela Berger. The Information Technology Manager, Michael W. Vollmer, manages all technology projects and works with the Staff Technology committee to plan and implement these projects.
Maintenance Department
Department Manager: Jose Mestey
The Maintenance Department responsibilities include: providing security, shipping, custodial, housekeeping, general maintenance and general support for the 36,000 square foot facility; providing a safe, clean, functional and effective physical plant for staff and patrons.
Technical Services Department
Department Manager: Linda Egebrecht
The Technical Services Department responsibilities include: processing all new and withdrawn collection materials, acquiring and receiving new materials, cataloging materials according to specific bibliographic rules, assigning classification numbers, entering information into the on-line patron catalog, and finishing new materials by stamping, covering, repackaging them, withdrawing outdated, little-used or damaged items from the collection by deleting them from the on-line patron catalog and from collec
tion statistics, repairing or preparing for rebinding damaged materials.
Reference Department
Department Manager: Gretchen Kottkamp
The Reference Department serves patrons from 6th grade through adult in person, by telephone and through email. They assist patrons with a wide variety of print and online resources. These resources include a large reference book collection with special areas such as Business and Company Reference, Consumer Reference and Career Reference and over 70,000 non-fiction. There are over 300 periodicals, over two dozen newspaper subscriptions and access to over three dozen premium resources. Over half of those resources are available to Park Ridge Public Library cardholders from home.
Circulation Department
Department Manager: John Doyle
The Circulation Department handles over 1.4 million items per year. These items include: books, videos, compact discs,books on cassette, magazines and all children' materials. Other responsibilities include: answering all incoming calls and general information questions, issuing library cards to all Park Ridge residents over the age of 5, and accepting book donations.
Children's Services Department
Department Manager: Kate Hall
The Children's Services Department serves children from birth through 6th grade, parents, teachers, and other adults who work with children.
The department has a collection of over 70,000+ books, cassettes, compact discs, video cassettes, books on cassette, puzzles, and magazines. The department provides access to a number of CD ROM reference products on PCs as well as public computers for word processing and learning games.
