Notice to Library Donors
Park Ridge Public Library appreciates your generous donations of books
and non-print materials to the Library. (See Library
Gift policy for monetary donation information.)
However, the lack of available storage space for booksale items and considerations of saleability and handling time required have made it necessary to issue the following guidelines:
- Please be sure any donations you contribute are in readable/playable condition. Dirty, flood-damaged, mildewed or otherwise damaged materials are not saleable and must be disposed of at Library expense.
- Items donated should contain useful current information. Outdated information (e.g., scientific, technological, tax, investment, medical, educational, legal, etc.) may do more harm than good. Areas such as history or literature age more "gracefully" than information on science and technology.
- Donations of the following types of materials will not be accepted by the Library:
- Textbooks
- Non-current business and professional books
- Magazines and journals other than American Heritage, Horizon or publications of similar quality. The Library has a very complete collection of National Geographic and regrets that no further donations of that title can be accepted.
- Reader's Digest Condensed Books
- Encyclopedias
Thank you again for considering Park Ridge Public Library for your donation.
