The Spirit of Giving

Give a gift to the Park Ridge Public Library and the Park Ridge Community. Making a contribution to the Park Ridge Public Library is the perfect way to:
  • Celebrate a special occasion - birthdays, graduations, holidays or anniversaries.
  • Invest in the cultural and educational development of the Park Ridge Community.
  • Remember someone with a lasting gift.
  • Invest in the cultural and educational development of the Park Ridge Community.
The Park Ridge Public Library first opened its doors to the public in 1913 at 1 N. Northwest Highway. The building was made possible through a grant from Andrew Carnegie and the first thousand books were a gift from the George B. Carpenter estate. The Library moved to its current address in 1958.

Throughout the years, the Library has remained the cultural heart of the City of Park Ridge. Over 74% of the city's population has a Library card and hundreds of thousands of items are circulated annually. The Library continues to benefit from the Endowment Fund and Restricted Gift Funds as it serves the Park Ridge community.

Thank you for selecting a gift to the Park Ridge Public Library as a means of honoring or remembering a loved one. The gift donation should be designated for one of the following two funds:

  • Endowment Fund
When you donate to the Park Ridge Public Library Endowment Fund, gifts and bequests, unless otherwise designated, shall be placed in the permanent fund. Purchases from the interest accumulated by the Fund are made periodically. When an item is purchased, a commemorative plate is affixed to it stating that funds from the Endowment Fund were used to purchase the item.

Donors' names will appear in the Endowment Fund Registry which is kept on display in the Adult Reference Room at the Library.

  • Restricted Gift Fund
When you donate to the Restricted Gift Fund , the gifts and bequests will be placed in this special fund until their purposes shall be fulfilled. You may select the type of materials you would like the Library to purchase, or you may suggest a title or subject. If you do not have a preference, our Library Department Managers will select an appropriate item.

A bookplate will be affixed to the item indicating the person being honored and the donor. A letter will be sent to the donor, as well as the recipient, indicating that a gift has been given in his/her name. In the case of a deceased person who is being remembered, the letter will be sent to a family member when the name and address is noted.

  • Estate or Trust Gifts
A planned gift may be considered by including the Library in your estate planning :
    • bequest - listing the LIbrary as a recipient of part or all of your estate
    • insurance - listing the Library as beneficiary of an insurance policy
    • contributing stock or stock options

  • Special Van Fund
    The Library
is collecting funds to purchase a van for frequent trips to our two off-site storage locations, outreach visits to schools and nursing homes, delivery of special services equipment and trips for supplies and materials. The Friends of the Library have committed $5,000 to this fund. Our goal is to raise an additional $15,000 through donations. Donations may be sent to:
