MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE RESOURCES COMMITTEE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PARK RIDGE PUBLIC LIBRARY HELD NOVEMBER 15, 2007 AT 7:38 P.M. IN THE THIRD FLOOR MEETING ROOM OF THE LIBRARY ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Patricia Lofthouse, Chair Pro-tem; Kathleen de Grasse, John Schmidt, Richard Van Metre, Library Board; Janet Van De Carr, Library Director; Linda Egebrecht, Library Staff. ABSENT:John Benka, Chair. Approval of Committee Minutes Mr. Van Metre made a MOTION: To approve the minutes for the Resources Committee Meeting held October 11, 2007. Mr. Schmidt SECONDED the motion. MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. Community Survey The Committee agreed that it is ready to present the Community Survey to the full Board on Tuesday, November 20 for consensus approval. Collections Update The Committee reviewed the collections. The collections are on target from last year 50%. The staff will weed and acquire 21,000 to 23,000 books this year. Other Programming Mrs. Van De Carr reported that the City Attorney advised that it would be OK to have a program presenter who has own insurance, or if patrons sign waiver. Mrs. Lofthouse suggested a Discovery Center-type program and brought catalog. Low Vision Support Group is growing and meeting monthly. They have changed their meetings to the larger first floor meeting room. Mrs. Van De Carr will suggest to Ms. Simantz, Library Information Coordinator, to invite reporters to attend a meeting.
