ABSENT:Arthur Davis.

Approval of Committee Minutes
Mrs. Lofthouse made a

MOTION: To approve the minutes for the Resources Committee Meeting held September 13, 2007.

Mr. Van Metre SECONDED the motion.

MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.

Library Card Sign Up Month
Mrs. Van De Carr reported that there is not an appreciable difference in this September effort compared to previous Septembers'. Actual statistics will be available at the Board meeting.

Video Game Collection Report
Ms. Mortensen forwarded a memo requesting investigation of beginning the purchase of an adult video game collection using regular budget funds. The Committee agreed that budgeting competition for funds that purchase resources of all types constituting the library collection will require the Committee's careful attention before any commitment is made. The Committee would also like to have information about the status of adult collections being used by libraries in other communities. Additionally, the Committee noted that the video game statistical report is comprehensive and appreciated.

Library Programs
Insurance issues surround the possible introduction of certain programs to the library schedule programs such as Tae Kwon Do and certain exercise programs. Staff will research liability issues with City legal staff.

Other Mrs. Van De Carr delivered a letter from a Park Ridge resident asking if the Library would be interested in receiving a donation of a comprehensive chess collection. Administrative response to such inquiries has been that the Library regrettably doesn't have the space and resources to manage citizen donations of exhaustive collection.

Mrs. Van De Carr also reported on areas of the Library resources that the staff are most proud of. Mrs. Van De Carr raised the issue of whether the $1.00 fee for video rentals should be dropped. The annual income is approximately $30,000 per year. This item will be presented during budget discussion.
