MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE PLANNING & OPERATIONS COMMITTEE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PARK RIDGE PUBLIC LIBRARY HELD JUNE 12, 2007 AT 7:30 P.M. IN THE MEMORIAL ROOM OF THE LIBRARY ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Dorothy Hynous, Chair Pro-tem; Margaret Harrison, Eileen O'Neill-Burke, Library Board; Janet Van De Carr, Library Director; Linda Egebrecht, Library staff. ABSENT: Shlomo Crandus, Chair. Approval of Minutes Ms. Hynous made a MOTION: To approve the minutes for the Planning and Operations Committee Meeting held May 8, 2007. Mrs. Harrison SECONDED the motion. MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. Newly Elected City Council Orientation The Committee discussed the orientation/dinner for the newly elected officials which will take place on Tuesday, June 19 at 6:00 p.m. Mr. Schmidt will welcome the group. Dinner will be served, followed by a tour of the Library, and Mr. Crandus will address the group. The regular Board meeting will follow at 7:30 p.m. A packet of information with various facts will be available. Community Survey The committee discussed the two proposals. Mrs. Van De Carr indicated that the Library worked with Public Opinion Laboratory of Northern Illinois University (POL) on two previous surveys and was satisfied with the results. POL is local and is familiar with libraries. Unicom Group from St. Louis, MO. is not a local company and it as noted that the executive summary included in the District 64 report was not as comprehensive as POL summaries. There is also a significant difference in price, the POL proposal is $5,000 less. Ms. Hynous made a MOTION: To accept the proposal from Public Opinion Laboratory of Northern Illinois University to accomplish a telephone survey of 400 respondents at a cost of $12,177. Mrs. Harrison SECONDED the motion. MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. Strategic Plan 07-08 - Action Plans A date for a the Board workshop has not yet been determined. Adjournment: 7:45 p.m.
