MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE MARKETING AND FUND RAISING COMMITTEE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PARK RIDGE PUBLIC LIBRARY HELD AUGUST 14, 2007 AT 8:44 P.M. IN THE MEMORIAL ROOM OF THE LIBRARY ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Eileen O'Neill-Burke, Chair; Margaret Harrison, Dorothy Hynous, Library Board; Janet Van De Carr, Library Director; Linda Egebrecht, Kathy Rolsing, Library staff. ABSENT: Shlomo Crandus. Approval of Minutes Mrs. Harrison made a MOTION: To approve the minutes for the Marketing and Fund Raising Committee Meeting held May 8, 2007. Ms. Hynous SECONDED the motion. MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. Marketing & Publicity Update The Committee discussed the Harry Potter Extravaganza for all ages (held July 20, 2007 from 5:00 pm until Midnight in the Library and Uptown) and the coverage of the event in the Herald Advocate. Mrs. Van De Carr stated that 3,000 people visited the Library from 6:00 p.m. to Midnight that evening. Buy A Brick Fund Raiser Update Buy A Brick Mrs. Van De Carr reported that the Library sold 82 bricks, many around the time of the Taste of Park Ridge. Donations for a Taste of Park Ridge brick were very low. Mr. Dick Barton of the Taste of Park Ridge Committee believes he can get donations for the remainder of the money for the Taste of Park Ridge brick. The Committee discussed the bricks already laid in the Reading Garden. Mrs. Van De Carr reported that there have been some problems with the engraved bricks, some got filled in with mortar during the construction, and these will be fixed with final clean up or replacements will be ordered. Mrs. Rolsing reported that Administration is handling the purchase of the bricks by patrons and that there are many problems with the restrictive nature of the policy. She stated that almost 30 people were unhappy that they had to change their brick dedication, and others have walked away from purchasing a brick due to the policy. Adjournment 8:20 p.m.
